KSU Research Chair Advances Construction Research and Innovation
Building on the strategic partnership between Nesma & Partners and King Saud University (KSU), the Nesma & Partners Chair for Construction Research and Building Technologies at KSU’s College of Engineering continues to generate research, innovation, and talent development outcomes aligned with the construction sector and Nesma & Partners’ technical priorities.
13 active research studies are currently progressing through different stages, from data collection and analysis to writing, submission, peer review, and revision. The studies span AI in construction, BIM, project management, geotechnical engineering, construction safety, and value engineering, reflecting areas of strategic relevance to the business.
Scholarly output has continued to grow. Three journal papers were reported in the 2024–2025 Annual Report, with four additional papers published between April and July 2026. Cumulatively, 14 scholarly outputs have been produced, comprising 11 peer-reviewed ISI-indexed journal articles, two international conference papers, and one scientific poster. 10 of the 11 journal articles were published in upper-quartile journals, highlighting the quality of the research.
Beyond publications, an innovative foundation system patent application has progressed through its writing, submission, review, and revision stages, with submission to the USPTO remaining the next milestone. The collaboration has also supported postgraduate development through the successful completion and defense of one master’s thesis in infrastructure asset management, alongside participation in academic and research engagement activities such as Research Excellence Day at KSU’s College of Engineering.
These outcomes demonstrate the progress of the Nesma & Partners–KSU partnership in strengthening research capabilities, supporting technical expertise, and contributing to the continued development of Saudi Arabia’s construction sector.
