Samer Abdul Samad Recognized in Construction Week’s Power Hour 100
Construction Week’s 2025 Power Hour 100 recognized Samer Abdul Samad, President & CEO of Nesma & Partners, among the top 100 leaders shaping the construction industry. The feature highlights executives who deliver measurable results, lead complex projects, and advance the sector with expertise and commitment.
Since 2021, Samer has guided Nesma & Partners through a transformation from a leading contracting firm into a premier integrated project solutions provider. His strategy aligns with Vision 2030 and emphasizes safety, quality, sustainability, digital transformation, and human capital development.
The company’s evolution is anchored in three strategic pillars: targeted acquisitions, public-private partnerships, and a corporate venture capital arm. These initiatives have strengthened capabilities across Energy, Infrastructure, and Building Construction, enabling end-to-end project delivery. The acquisitions of Kent and AYTB expanded technical expertise and international reach, while Imad Ventures and PPP initiatives are opening new markets and creating sustainable revenue streams.
Safety remains a core principle. In 2024, Nesma & Partners recorded 125 million safe man-hours, including 13.8 million hours without lost time injuries on the South Ghawar project. Strong governance and project controls continue to support consistent delivery and client confidence. Sustainability is central to operations. Under Samer’s leadership, Nesma & Partners established the Kingdom’s first zero-plastic construction site and commissioned a 1.14-megawatt solar photovoltaic system, offsetting over 650 metric tons of carbon emissions annually. The company also pledged to plant 200,000 trees in support of the Saudi Green Initiative, reinforcing a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.
Human capital development and localization are equally vital to Samer’s vision. The Nesma High Training Institute has trained more than 56,000 individuals, with over 6,000 graduates now contributing to projects across the Kingdom. A dedicated training center in NEOM prepares young Saudis for high-profile, complex projects. Through the WAD2 initiative, Nesma & Partners aims to provide 50,000 training opportunities by 2028, strengthening the construction sector’s role in national economic resilience.
Nesma & Partners delivers major projects across its three business lines. The Energy business line provides global technical services across the full value chain. The infrastructure line executes transformative projects such as the Riyadh Metro. The Building line leads urban planning initiatives, including the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, the NEOM 5K and 10K Residential Communities, and the fast-tracked Zallal Project in Diriyah. These projects emphasize sustainable design, livability, and future readiness. Integrated operations enhance efficiency, strengthen risk management, and create lasting value. Advanced technologies such as AI-based planning tools, 3D laser scanning, and project management platforms enable precise and consistent project delivery.
The company also undertakes projects with social impact, such as the Qurain Cultural District, fostering cultural identity, inclusion, and economic opportunity. Internally, ERP modernization and digital solutions in procurement, logistics, workforce management, health and safety, and subcontractor governance are providing real-time visibility, improved decision-making, and audit-ready compliance.
Nesma & Partners today employs more than 65,000 people and maintains a project backlog exceeding USD 10 billion. Turnover improved to 6.16 percent in 2024, reflecting workforce stability and engagement.
This recognition underscores Samer Abdul Samad’s leadership and Nesma & Partners’ commitment to delivering projects that support Vision 2030, empower communities, foster innovation, and generate lasting value for the Kingdom. |
